Specific Help specialises in computer software to help students of ANY age who are having problems with reading English or basic arithmetic (numeracy).

We are located in North Balwyn, Victoria but our resource packages can be sent anywhere in Australia including Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Hobart, Alice Springs and Darwin.

Specific Help's owner John Dowell offers two reading resources as well as two numeracy packages.

Our packages are aimed to help solve reading and numeracy problems caused by any reason including English is the student's second language, specific learning difficulties, dyslexia or a disability.

Resource Packages

	Narrated Reading Resources These computer lessons help the students with severe reading problems to recognise and say the phonetic sounds of letters and blends in 240 of the most commonly used words while becoming competent in reading the words. A unique method of WORD ATTACK WITH THE WORDS COLOR CODED is used to help the students to increase their vocabulary. The lessons are FULLY narrated so they can be used without a one-to-one tutor (when appropriate). They are written with the popular Microsoft Power Point software. Three groups of words are on three CDROM discs with duplicate copies provided with a Power Point viewer. A set is only $48.00 plus delivery costs.
	Narrated Numeracy Resources The NUMERACY computer lessons are written by an experienced Mathematics teacher to help students with severe problems with basic arithmetic. The instructions are all colour coded and the lessons are FULLY narrated. The lessons are written with Microsoft Power Point and a Viewer is provided. The CDROM disk is only $24.00 plus delivery costs.
	Reading Resource Package The package includes two CDROM discs, two 3 and a half inch floppy discs and a comprehensive book with detailed instructions and a report on the research project completed in 2003. The resource material has been developed to help non-reading older students to learn to read with the aid of one-to-one tutoring by non-professionals but with supervision by a teacher. The package also includes 53 additional lessons written with a MSDOS based language. Each package costs $90.00 plus delivery costs.
	Numeracy Resource Package The numeracy resource material has been developed over 18 years by an experienced mathematics teacher who researched the problems with basic arithmetic at Special Schools. The main lessons are written with Microsoft Power Point but there are 43 extra lessons written in a MSDOS based Authoring Language. Each package includes an instruction book and costs $80.00 plus delivery costs.
